Toters Terms and Conditions
You're renting our containers, not buying them.
Here is the whole deal in about three minutes — what you owe, what happens if something breaks, and what you can't pack.
This page is a summary, not the contract. Our full Rental Agreement is the document you accept at checkout and it is the one that governs your rental. If anything here ever conflicts with it, the full agreement controls.
01
What You're Renting
Containers, dollies and wardrobe units. A standard container measures 27′′ × 17′′ × 12′′ — about a large cardboard box, but it holds close to twice as much because the walls don't bow.
They stay ours the whole time. You can't sell them, lend them, sublet them, or take them outside our service area, and please don't paint, drill or stick anything permanent to them.
02
How Long You Keep Them
The standard rental is [2 weeks], starting the day we deliver and ending when we physically pick them up — not when you finish unpacking, and not when you set them outside.
Need longer? Call or email before your scheduled pickup date and we'll extend you. We would much rather extend than turn up while you're still living out of boxes.
03
How Long You Keep Them Longer
Extensions are charged per item, per week, so you pay for what you're actually holding rather than a flat fee whether you have 25 containers or 100.
-
Standard Container: $1.00 per week
-
Dolly: $5.00 per week
-
Wardrobe Unit: $x per week
The same rates apply if we arrive on your pickup date and the containers aren't ready or we can't get to them. A failed trip also costs [$X].
04
If They Dont Come Back at All
If we still don't have our containers [30 days] after your pickup date, we treat it as though you've bought them. You'll be charged the replacement value of each item, plus the weekly charges that built up in the meantime and what it cost us to chase them down. Once that's paid, they're yours to keep.
05
Paying and Your Card on File
You pay for your order when you book. Your card stays on file until we've picked everything up, because that's how extensions, late returns and damage get settled.
We won't charge anything beyond your original order without emailing you an itemized statement first. Every charge we can make is listed in the fee schedule — if it isn't on that list, we can't bill you for it.
06
Delivery Day
Someone 18 or older needs to be there to sign and count. We deliver to your garage, driveway or unit door — if you want them carried in and staged room by room, that's an add-on.
Gated community? Send us the gate code or add us to your guest list. If your association wants a certificate of insurance before a vendor comes through, tell us [three business days] ahead and we'll send one over. Delivery windows are our best estimate, not a guarantee. We'll call if we're running behind.
07
Pickup Day
Empty them, close the lids, stack or nest them, and leave them somewhere we can reach. Pull out the packing paper and any trash.
You don't need to be home, as long as you've told us in writing where they'll be. Anything you leave inside a container we'll hold for [14 days] if we can identify it, but we can't be responsible for it.
08
Taking Care of Them
-
Keep each container under [50 lbs] — not because they're weak, but so people can carry them safely.
-
Don't stack loaded containers more than [5] high.
-
Don't stand or sit on them, and don't use one as a step or a workbench.
-
Keep them out of long stretches of direct sun and away from open flame.
-
They're for moving, not for long-term storage — ask us if you need storage and we'll set up aproper long-term rental.
09
What You Cant Pack
Nothing hazardous, contaminating, perishable, living or illegal. In practice, down here, that usually means the garage and the lanai:
-
Fuel, propane, gasoline, charcoal, lighter fluid, aerosols
-
Paint, solvents, adhesives, acids
-
Pool chemicals, fertilizer, pesticides, lawn and garden chemicals
-
Ammunition, fireworks, firearms
-
Perishable food, open liquids, anything that can leak or attract pests
-
Live plants and animals, and anything wet or mildewed
If a container comes back contaminated, we have to charge for cleaning it up. And please keep cash, jewelry, deeds and irreplaceable things out of them — those travel at your own risk, in ours or anyone else's boxes.
10
If Something Goes Damaged or Missing
From the moment we drop them off until the moment we pick them up, they're your responsibility. Scuffs, scratches and fading are normal and we never charge for them.
If lost or unusable:
-
Standard container [$25]
-
Dolly [$75]
-
Wardrobe unit [$X]
If we think something is beyond further use, we photograph it and email you the photos with an itemized statement before we charge anything.
11
We Don't Ensure What's Inside
We rent containers. We're not a moving company, we don't perform your move, and we don't insure your belongings or cover damage to them.
Check your homeowner's or renter's policy, and if you've hired movers, ask them about valuation coverage — that's where your protection comes from.
12
Changing or Cancelling
Cancel free up to [48 hours] before delivery. Inside that window it's [30%] of your order, and if we've already delivered, a [30%] restocking fee applies.
Rescheduling is free with [48 hours] notice. Closings slip all the time around here — tell us early and we'll work with you, though between November and April we can't always promise a new slot.
13
Hurricanes and Bad Weather
If a named storm, a watch or warning, or an evacuation order affects your dates, we reschedule at no charge. No fees, no argument.
If a storm keeps us from picking up on time, the rental clock stops — you won't be charged for days you couldn't have given them back. Please move them somewhere secure if it's safe to do so; they're still in your care.
14
If We Disagree About Something
Call us first — nearly everything gets sorted out in one conversation. Formally, this agreement is governed by Florida law, and anything that can't be resolved goes to the courts in [Lee] County, Florida.
Questions before you pack it? Call us — we would rather answer the question than clean the container.
